calling any one from missouri

I’ve been dealing with bed time issues too... think we’ve got a routine now though...

I’ve been taking Laurel and Hardy for a walk around 7, then I sit on the front porch while they mill around until they get ready, then they come roost on me around 7:30... the chicken first then eventually the turkey

then I walk through the house with them riding on my shoulders and put them in their ‘crib’ which is a storage tub with a heating pad set to low on the screened in back porch...

I think if the turkey saw fire flies he’d want to stay up all night, lol

a couple more weeks of this and they can stay out in their ‘day coop’ all night

I am gonna need pics later of you walking through your house with a full grown turkey on your shoulder.

I spotted some growing wild out at the school house place too.

I was working on my little fountain pond today and realised some of my lilies over there didn't come up this year.
I had some fancy peachy colored ones an old friend give me starts of years ago.
Not a trace of them. .
That makes me sad. 😪

I think we have some of those peachy day lilies... but they haven’t bloomed yet...

I get pretty aggravated loosing stuff... but I’m hoping the cat, aka ‘vole assassin’ is gonna help with that 😉

You think voles and moles get the bulbs? I thought conservation magazine said they ate grubs and worms.. Not bulbs.
I figure this year bulbs probably just rotted out.
Or the orange ones choked them out.

yeah... Laurel and I are gonna hafta have a talk at some point, lol

I’m actually more concerned with Hardy... if he turns out to be a rooster... I kinda wanted to keep him because of genetics... but I’m probably ruining him by making him into a ‘feather baby’ 😉

we’ll see... at this point keeping them ‘fat and happy’ is the focus 🙄

voles/moles definitely got some of mine... not sure if they ate them or just chewed the the roots to make a tunnel or what?

I think rotting out is very likely with a wet yard... and ditch lilies absolutely choke out other day lilies and stuff

He is going to be life long buddies with that turkey.
He might as well start making room for it to sleep on his side of the bed. 🤣

Dang it... I was almost asleep after being on bear alert all night and then the coyotes started yodeling behind the house and I jumped up 🥴

I don’t know about my side of the bed... but I might get kicked out to sleep on the porch if Mrs. Zark catches our little parade though the house...

so far she’s been on kitten duty while I get the birds to bed... I’m telling you it’s a total circus 🎪 🙄

I have thoughts on how this is all gonna turn out... but it’s one day at a time

We had turkeys when I was a kid, and when I was about 10 we had a couple hens raise a bumper crop of poults, so I spent the summer immersed in turkeys ....

Later I tried to raise a few hatchery poults, but they always died on me...

so this has been fun, even if a bit time consuming... but how can you not have fun raising an Invisible bird 😉

I did some training yesterday, I covered the west window of the coop in the evening and when the lights went out it was a mad scramble to get on the roost. I had a few that were roosting on the edge of the poop table as everyone wanted to be near the light from the west window. Right now the lights come on at sunrise and go off 90 minutes before sunset. It was kinda funny the hens all milling about in the chicken yard and the chicks all up on the roost.
