I took advantage of the mild weather this morning to finish splitting some of the most gnarly oak rounds into firewood. Never seen oak that was that gnarly and stringy in the center... wonder what kind of wood it was? So I got my second warming from the firewood and have not burned it yet

Hi y'all! Its been a while! Ya know crazy lives and all that. How is everyone? It was 50 here and supposedly is just going to go down, gusty too. Merry Christmas!

We didn't get the big gusts of wind until after dark this evening. Up until then it was just windy, then it got WINDY!! Even the puppies were barking at the wind gusts. Now it seems to have calmed down some. I'm trying my hand at baking French Bread this evening. I got the sourdough starter and the French bread recipe from a friend of mine. I tried the French bread she made and it looked and tasted amazing! I hope mine turns out good too as I am planning on taking it to Christmas Eve dinner at my step daughter's house. If it's a bust, then I guess I'll be going to the store in the morning.

We used to live in LaPlace and Leidenheimer's french bread was the best you could get. I remember when I was a young boy in Metairie and had a morning paper route and seeing paper bags of Leidenheimer's french bread at the front door of the supermarket well before it opened up. I've never made french bread from a starter let us know how that turns out. Can you share the recipe?
