calling any one from missouri

My broody re-joined the flock this morning, in the rain. She seems cured. We put a zip tie on her leg instead of the bands. It rained and rained and rained. The creek is swollen and fast—-the gnomes are white water rafting.....

my chickens deplore the rain. No one is outside their coops right now. hoping for a clear day tomorrow

We finally gave up trying to get a sourdough starter going and ordered one from King Arthur along with some other stuff she just had to have... I think our whole wheat flour was just too old to have any live yeast cells left in it and the two times we tried to get a starter going it just would not take off.

Been munching on some Rustic Sourdough Bread the last couple of days and it's yummy for breakfast and much better than the frozen biscuits I normally get with my weekend breakfast.

For snacks she makes Sourdough Crackers she makes from the discard when feeding the sourdough starter.

Looks like a bit of a cold front coming down here for a few days...

This weekend the predicted temps are pretty awful! Lows in the single digits and highs in the 20's. I plan to wear my insulated coveralls to work! I work in the factory's warehouse and basically there is NO heat! Plus we start at 4 AM so you know the temps will be pretty low then!

Happy Groundhog Day everyone! I took the dogs out to look for groundhogs, but only found an armadillo. Which they wanted to chase. The armadillo saw its shadow for sure. @OhZark Biddies you know a lot about folklore, what might that foretell?

the ozark folklore book predates the arrival of the armored dillers.... but when I lived in Arizona I was told that a diller on Groundhog Day meant taxes were going up 😉

Sourdough pizza for lunch!
