My husband and I got our Covid vaccinations today! Our neighbor called and said they made appointments thru our local clinic for the Joplin branch. I called at 8 and they asked, can you be here at 10:40? Yes! It’s a 45 min drive.
They were giving the shots in a warehouse/garage out back. There were only 2 people ahead of us, it wasn’t crowded at all. We got the Pfizer vaccine and appointment cards to return in 3 weeks. I think the vaccines are ramping up, and just heard two more local sources have received them.

Looking to relocate to an area that is more homesteader friendly... and not so flipping cold.....

I have been researching the Ozarks region, as this area is very similar to the ‘drift less’ area of WI, and I love this type of terrain.... what can you tell me about this region? How bad is the humidity? What are the manufacturing industries? How hot does it get in that area compared to the flatter portions of the state? How bad is the snow/ice in the winter?

I apologize for the 20 questions, but I would prefer to hear from the folks that live in the state instead of trying to find all of this info online.....

Hi, you might like Springfield area.... Google the climate there, industries etc. I live in the flatter area north of Joplin. Joplin is really nice. We are used to the humidity and the hot days, it’s probably similar to all areas of the same latitude in MO. We use AC in the summer....

Northwest of Poplar Bluff is hilly and property in counties Northwest of Butler should be inexpensive compared to Butler county. It's been some time since we have had much snow around here. It gets humid here mostly in the morning and gets less humid as the day goes on but nothing like south Louisiana where I came from before settling here.

I'm not sure what a 'drift less' area is...

Helloo. I personally love missouri more than any of the other states I've lived in. I live in the very far sw. People are friendly, helpful, humble. The soil is rocky, the Forrests are heavy with oak trees. Humidity can be miserable, there are days you walk outside and it slaps you. It doesn't snow quit like it used to bit we get icestorms . The highway dept seems to know what they are doing here so if it does ice or snow you are generally only ever stuck for a day. As for heat, it gets hot, easily into the 90s on a warm summer day Where I live I am about 30 minutes from several factories. Top flight, Justin boots, there are poultry plants like tysons, George's, Simmons, I used to do some work building electric motors in Cassville mo. I made giant anodized window frames at a place called efco in monett, soo many more.

Another big plus to Missouri for chicken keepers is that getting your chickens NPIP-certified is 100 percent free. There's also free testing at shows like the State Fair, too. NPIP certification makes it much easier to show and sell chickens.

I have friends in Oklahoma who pay upwards of $300 annually to get their chickens certified.
