Here is another picture of him. I’m not sure if it’s any clearer. 🤷‍♀️

We have more humming birds this year than I can remember in past years.

Years ago we had a couple from Maine over and she had a big hair style like a bee hive and a humming bird flew right into her hair... I don't know who was more scared!

JT

we have a bunch this year too… I have six feeders up right now and I have to fill them all every day, some days twice a day….

Some days I get behind or forget and then I get a message like this from my neighbor Joe, who is a 1/2 mile away, when all 30+ of our hummingbirds end up at his one feeder 😳

Really!
I don't understand this. I can't even have 2 without it being a constant hummer fued out here.
How do they all get along at other people's places.
Btw it don't matter how many feeders I put up.

Stop feeding them the meany juice!

Nah I don’t know why more feeders don’t work for you, but in the spring more feeders seem to help keep the aggressive males from running off all the others…

At some point in the summer the adult males head back south and our feeders are just used by a swarm of mommas and teenagers…

and then we start getting migrants coming through and it gets crazier… that might be where we are right now…

this weekend I could count at least 6 at each feeder plus a bunch more zooming all over… we have a trumpet vine and cardinal flower in bloom right now too…

I don’t know how many we really have around but there’s a bunch… But they’ll mostly be gone by this time next month

I've always heard that they will fight during breeding season but not when they are getting ready to migrate. But that's still never been the norm for me. They always fight no matter what.
I even keep one on the front porch and one in the backyard and they still burn all their energy zipping back and forth from front to back trying to guard both feeders.

We only have 3 cucumber plants, (well also 1 volunteer) but have been overwhelmed with cukes. Every meal includes obligatory cucumbers. Even when we went to Taco Bell, I brought a cucumber w me. This batch went to the food pantry.

Yesterday when I went out to pick more, I heard the plants singing, “you’re gonna miss me when I’m gone”
You’re gonna miss me by my crunch
you’re gonna miss me in your lunch
You’re gonna miss me when I’m gone...

I told my daughter and she found this lovely 4 part harmony rendition:

And ditto for the tomatoes! But NOT the okra.....
