Here is another picture of him. I’m not sure if it’s any clearer.

How old? I’d say from the comb and wattles that it’s a male.
Right around the same age as JudeHow old? I’d say from the comb and wattles that it’s a male.
We have more humming birds this year than I can remember in past years.
Years ago we had a couple from Maine over and she had a big hair style like a bee hive and a humming bird flew right into her hair... I don't know who was more scared!

Really!we have a bunch this year too… I have six feeders up right now and I have to fill them all every day, some days twice a day….
Some days I get behind or forget and then I get a message like this from my neighbor Joe, who is a 1/2 mile away, when all 30+ of our hummingbirds end up at his one feeder

Really!
I don't understand this. I can't even have 2 without it being a constant hummer fued out here.
How do they all get along at other people's places.
Btw it don't matter how many feeders I put up.
I've always heard that they will fight during breeding season but not when they are getting ready to migrate. But that's still never been the norm for me. They always fight no matter what.Stop feeding them the meany juice!
Nah I don’t know why more feeders don’t work for you, but in the spring more feeders seem to help keep the aggressive males from running off all the others…
At some point in the summer the adult males head back south and our feeders are just used by a swarm of mommas and teenagers…
and then we start getting migrants coming through and it gets crazier… that might be where we are right now…
this weekend I could count at least 6 at each feeder plus a bunch more zooming all over… we have a trumpet vine and cardinal flower in bloom right now too…
I don’t know how many we really have around but there’s a bunch… But they’ll mostly be gone by this time next month
I think our males are gone....we have just a couple females now. Yesterday one of them was hovering in front of our door looking in, to tell us the feeder was empty.some point in the summer the adult males head back south and our feeders are just used by a swarm of mommas and teenagers…
