calling any one from missouri

I went out and opened the coops, fed the chickens....there’s maybe an inch of snow so far and they won’t come out. Still 11º.

It’s 21 here but with the wind chill it feels like 9. 😳
We just got a dusting of snow but with all of our curved rural roads it was enough to get school called off. It should have been called at any rate because of the temperatures in my opinion. I can’t see kids standing outside waiting for the bus in these bitter temperatures and you know it was colder this morning !
Stay warm , stay safe!
One coop of chickens is outside walking around. The other flock refuses to leave their coop. 🤣 (and they have the warmer coop 🤣).
The chicks have been doing good. They have been without a heat lamp or heat source for about a week now. A couple of them have ventured outside but most of them are content with staying in the coop at this point. I did go out a few minutes ago and re-wrap ( with thick plastic ) one end of the “open” (wire only) part of the coop. The chicks and chickens have a fully enclosed part of that coop that they access by either a guillotine door or through an open window. Now all 3 sides of the open part are covered (at least the bottom half if not the entire side) with heavy plastic.
The chicks stay in the solid part of the coop.
