The swap is May 15th this Saturday.
Sorry about that. I thought the date copied over.

Kathy, I don't have any pictures. Sorry.

Hi there! Does anyone on this list know where I can get some standard Cochin hatching eggs? I would prefer some of the lighter colors and splash would be cool! I want to try to find some close enough to drive and get because the last dozen I bought had a terrible hatch rate and the eggs in the incubator now arent as well as I had hoped. I dont know if the eggs are old or if its because of shipping. Chicks would be good too

Need an opinion-

My babies are about 4 months old. Not yet up to the size of my hens so that's why they are separated. But I am concerned that my hens will pick on my new babies, even once they get to the same size due to the pecking order, etc. I have some feather crested birds, like polish that i know will be first on the list of munchies.

So my question is, should I just do away with all my old hens once the new ones start laying? They are only a year old. They are not nearly as interesting as my new ones and it wouldn't break my heart. But they are good layers. They are orpingtons, wyandottes and aracaunas. Or would it be better to simply clip the beaks of the hens when its move in time? The hens and babies do roam the yard together now.

Thanks for your opinions.

I have never clipped beaks before, and never plan to. I don't know much about that. What I do is .... let them see each other through a fence for a couple weeks, then I let them free range together for a couple weeks, then I put them all together. So far I have never had a problem (knock on wood!) ...

Good luck!

Thom Dean, near Springfield has them.

Jason Kramer has some 5-6 week old birds and will be in Monett tomorrow. Some of these are pretty dark colored though.
