calling any one from missouri

Thanks for the offer SuziQ but I fished up some Black Australorp eggs to throw in the bator. I am getting a really good deal on them. I dont have any and I plan on selling all of these. My kids changed my mind about the EE's. We have 2 hens and a roo and IF they ever start laying, I may try to hatch a couple of their eggs but my kids seen a pic of Columbian Wyandottes and fell in love. I called Cakle today and they said it would be towards the end of March before they get any. So the hunt is on for those eggs too.

I hope everyone is gearing up for the snow we are supposed to be getting tonight. Bundle your feathered babies and keep warm

Just let me know about the eggs. Like I said you can have them just so I know what kind of hatch rate you get.

BRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!!!!!!! Went outside and shoveled and even shoveled a path for the girls to come out of the house, not that they will. That wind is frigid. My youngest son went sledding for about 15 minutes and came in with wind burn on his wrists. Made him take a hot shower. We are inside for the day.

Its hard to tell how much snow we got because it is blowing so much. I would guess 5 inches. It looks to be here a while. I would not be surprised if we have no school tomorrow due to the extreme cold. Gives me a chance to get plenty of work done around the house.

Gave the girls a big helping of corn and they are happy for the day. Will have to get eggs soon so they don't freeze.

Hey Missy! I'm gonna say your right on with snow fall...we have about 5in also down here around Joplin. Wow, hope your son is ok and didnt get TO much cold (frostbite)...burrrr. What are your current temps? I think we are right at 19 today....HEAT WAVE! Take care and try to stay warm everyone!

Im not letting my girls out today at all. I'm afraid they will get frostbite on their toes. My son asked to go play out in the snow and I said NO WAY. I think we will be staying in today too.

We let ours out today and the chickens will NOT come out. They did run out as I was putting hay down in the back room. The geese and ducks and turkeys however..... They LOVE the snow!!

My girls have the ability to get out anytime they want. I have looked out the window a few times and none have been out but I have seen a few at the door looking out.
I used to close the door up when ever the weather was bad but someone talked me out of doing that this year and they have been fine with it.
I will be going out soon to feed and collect eggs and will give extra cracked corn.

I just through down a clump of straw ontop of the snow at the bottom of their ramp from the coop. I knew they could not resist coming out and scratching through it. And by them scratching through it they spread it out across the snow which helps feep their feet and toes out of the snow allowing them more time outside. I do this with every snowfall because I know they do not like being "cooped up". The straw eventually breaks down and composts back into the ground.
I had to build a barrier around the bails of straw because even though I had them covered my girls found them and had straw strung out across the yard which is not good for the grass.

My girls were at their door watching me come down to feed. They didn't come out but several stood there peeking out. I was going to shovel around their door but the wind is blowing so crazy it wouldn't have done any good.
