calling any one from missouri

I think I contacted our county assessor office or something like that to find out what restrictions there were for our subdivision. If there are no restrictions on file through the neighborhood association you are ok. You do have to make sure your coop is at least 150 feet or yards, (I can't remember which) from your neighbor's residence. You should also check with your city code as well regarding animal laws.

It depends on the size of your town/city. If you have a zoning department, I would check there. I would also check to see what kind of zoning you have on your property. Sometimes there are grandfathering clauses.

If you're in a small town, check with the town clerk. Ask for a copy of the regulation. Don't just take someone's word for it. This is not an unreasonable request.

I know our regulations are printed right on our plat for the subdivision... so you may need to check that too. But if you have an actual "put together" subdivision, they should have by-laws pertaining to the dos and don'ts.

Welcome, BTW!

I live in Marionville about 25 miles south west of Springfield. I checked at City hall and was told we are zoned Agriculture or something like that and that we could have chickens, so I started with 6 and added 25, lowered that by three and then added another 12 and hatched three and now have another 5 eggs in the bator.( 43+) If you are in a subdivision that might be a problem but if you are out a little, you shouldn't have to much trouble. Check and see and GOOD LUCK!
