Anyone purchased from Heartland Hatchery? They seem to sell mostly south of KC and out into KS. I saw an ad were they are looking to sell someone excess chicks that do not sell on their weekly 'chick day'. It would be a way to get a variety of chickens pretty cheap. You have to take them all and get no selection...but it could be interesting!

Here is the newest ad - Chick days 2012 dates & locations

Would be interested to know of the quality of birds they sell if anyone has experience.

I also have a 3 week old Blue Marans that needs a new home. It appears to be a cockerel. If you interested let me know. Hubby works in KC so it could be brought down there.

We live across the line in Garfield, Arkansas. About 2 minutes from the Missouri line, 10 minutes from Rogers and 20 minutes from Eureka Springs. My wife and I are thinking about starting a poultry and small animal swap meet. Here's the BYC thread:

We are just getting started hatching eggs and it is addicting! Can't find a good selection of different breeds, so we figure a swap meet may be a good solution. Bring plenty of peeps together, and see what we come up with!

Hey Stuck in the Coop... about Heartland Hatchery -

I drove to his chick day in Clinton last year. He had really nice healthy chicks that day. It was well worth the drive.

Thanks for your reply to my last post too. Good luck with your Buckeyes & thanks for the peacock info

Thanks for the info Jenny. I'm not really interested in hatchery birds, but I see that ad so often I'm tempted to go check them out.

We went & looked, and wound up buying a few brahmas, silkies & assorted bantams. They were big & really healthy. We have had a variety up until now to see which ones we liked, and just to enjoy. Girls are wanting to get serious now, so I will move primarily to breeders as well. Good luck!
