In your bread box incubator, you said you installed a cpu fan. Can you describe 1. where you got it & if there is a decent substitute that i could get & 2. where did you install it in the box??

I bought my bread box at the goodwill yesterday almost identical to yours for $9. i was so excited. I am slowly collecting things. This is so exciting. My 2 older girls can't wait to do this. And my husband actually chastised me for spending the money on the bread box when he said he could have built me a box. But he doesnt understand I dont want him to build me a box. I want to do this myself!! Hear me Roar!!! (totally joking!! but i'm not incompetent either!!)

Do you have a neighbor or friend who messes around with computers?
Lots of people give away old computers. Many times ones that aren't woth fixing will still have a case fan or cpu fan and a power supply that will work.

cpu and case fans are 12v. A lot of 2nd hand stores will have a box full of power supply transformers from old boom boxes, digital camera chargers, speaker power supplies, cell phone chargers, etc. Just look through them until you find one that has a 12v output. Cut the connectors off the fan and transformer and wire them together. You may have to reverse the wires to get the right direction on the fan.

If you can't find a fan let me know. I have several old computers that will soon be headed to recycling. One of them may have a fan I haven't stripped yet. I would let you have it for the postage.

thanks so much for you reply & i was able to send an email to MissPrissy also and she was helpful. I actually am getting ready to send an email to a friend of mine who works on computers to see if i can get one of his little fans!! And thanks for the info about the cord and all. I was wondering about how to power it if i found it.
It's going to be fun. I'm very excited and i really and truly want to do this as cost affective as possible. That will impress my husband.
and reading all of these posts and seeing all of these great pictures of eggs pipping and chicks hatching has really got me excited and ready to go!!!
