I was a little leary putting your precious blue orp eggs as the test hatch for the homemade incubator my DH made for me, but it was holding temp so well I did.
They started hatching last night. I'd ordered a dozen, but I forget how many extras you sent me. But anyways, on day 18 I put in 10 blue orps and my one special lavender egg into the hatcher.
Just now I took out the hatched ones from the one hatcher. I have 9 happy little orp babies, plus the lavender! Looks as though 2 of the orps are blue, 4 splash, and 3 blacks. Altho I always have a hard time juging blue from spalsh as day olds, they might all 6 be blue, but two are definitely darker than the other 4. And the lavender baby is split/black...he just now hatched in a seperate hatcher, and is still in the incubator.
As for the last egg? It's still pipped. But I wouldnt be able to take the already hatched ones out till tomorrow morning, so I took them out today and added water in hopes the last one will still finish hatching (I've done this before and not had much trouble despite all the warnings you hear about it.
