I am trying to figure out if he's a Silver Pencil Wyandotte.

He belonged to a flock that got split up, and now his remaining companion duck friend is gone. Mr. Chicken is alone now, and I'm going to try to find him a home in the Massachusetts area.

Can you confirm his breed? Or is he a mix?

Thank you in advance,
Buff Hooligans

If he is a wyandotte, that would be the variety, he may have come from a hatchery , which explains the off color in the feather pattern and the poorly shaped tail.

Dont get me wrong I think he is a beautiful bird for sure.

Pipermark, thanks for your feedback. He just went through a train-wreck of a moult. Normally his tail feathers are 21" long (I stole one and measured it), and glossy greenish black. Is that the wrong color for SilverPencils?

If you look on Feathersite her does have the color pattern of a Silver penciled Wyandotte...that's a long tail though...

Ps he probably has some Phoenix, Yokohama or Sumatra in him.

He's pretty anyway

Other than the wrong tail for a wyandotte, look at the ear lobes. Wyandottes do not have those. I would guess prolly some pheonix or something...good luck! Handsome fellow!
