came home to bad news

When I left for work this morning all chicks were fine. Got home this evening and found one dead in the chick waterer. Not sure how it happened. they are a couple of weeks old and have been using the waterer just fine. I find it hard to believe that it fell asleep while drinking and drowned. I'm puzzled, now I will have to try and find 2 or 3 more.

I lost one the same way, but that was on day 2 after bringing them home. You would think that after 2 weeks they would be past accidentally drowning in the waterer...

Oh no, I'm so sorry, Buff Orps are the sweetest.
The poor chic may have been taking a drink & got stepped on.

You might want to put some marbles or small rocks in their water.
