The Christmas surprise was roundworms. Two. Huge. Roundworms. Left right on top of a roost for me to see as soon as I walked in the coop this morning! 😁. So everyone got a nice dollop of fenbendazole this morning. My sweet Delaware, Willow, recognized the syringe and came running to gobble up her dose (thankfully most of them willingly ate it off my finger, the rest of them may have heard some choice words while I wrestled to get it in their mouths…..Butters, Eleanor, Gypsy…I’m looking at you!)

I’ve wormed them once before as a precaution, but never seen any signs of worms and definitely haven’t ever seen adults like that in their droppings, yuck! My beautiful sweet Baby Peaches passed away suddenly a couple months ago and I did an at home necropsy to see if anything was off and didn’t find any traces of any kind of worms through her entire digestive tract, nor did she have a single mite or louse. I guess I foolishly thought the rest of my girls were fine since Peaches was parasite free.

I’m sure I’ll be using those same choice words in a few days when everyone gets wormed for the second time! I’m expecting it to be more of an ordeal next time around now that they know what’s coming.
