New gardener here. Have a little 40' sq. garden patch and just put a chicken pen in the corner for eggs and fertilizer. I didn't originally want to pen them but both my neighbors have large dogs that they let run loose. We are kind of in the country.
Started with 2 golden comet roosters and 1 hen; and 1 orpington hen.
We had to give away the most agressive rooster because they were fighting. I think that 4 was just too many for the pen they have.
One of the hens started laying over the weekend but has stopped for a few days now.
I joined this site for as much info on keepind chickens as I can get, as well as networking with other fowl keepers for tips and such.
Hopefully in the future I can raise a larger flock.
We intend on hatching eggs this spring and my wife, myself, and our three year old daughter are all very excited.
