Picked up a salvaged trailer to turn into a coop. Ended up having WAY more rot/water damage than I thought but we're making it work.

First thing we did was strip off all of the old sealant on the roof and use RV roof tape in place. Took several days to peal, scrape, ass grind all the layers off. But we didn't want to start inside until we knew it was weather proof again.

Then we gut the trailer. This is where we found so much more damage than we initially thought. We considered saving the wiring since it all still worked but removing the cabinets left us with piles of wire everywhere. So rather than sort through it my husband decided it would be easier to just run some outlets and lights on 110.

Then it was time to start paneling. I got white 1/8" MDF. I need something flexible and easy to clean. I'll caulk all seams. My husband worked on a plywood floor and boxes to cover the wheel wells.

Looks like you already have a pop door on the Right....LOL

We finished up the paneling over the weekend and added supports for the roof. It had sagged and that allowed water to pool and sit on the roof. Not good! We did this same support system over the door into the trailer as well. The roof had totally rotted and come down over the door. That was the only deep water damage and rot we knew about before we gut the trailer.

I'll repaint the outside while then do an accent stripe this key lime green.

I was originally going to do a wall inside the trailer with a door into the coop area and then a separate feed storage area but have decided to skip the wall and install a used cabinet I got at the dump for feed storage instead.

I'll post pictures after I get roosts and nest boxes in and get her painted up.
