my advice would be to wait until the spring if you do not already have adequate shelter and heat. many people see cute fuzzy chicks and don't realize the amount of work that is needed for these animals to thrive. i personally hate to see chickens kept in small confined coops as most chickens prefer to range for food and are happiest when they do this. if you are going to get them, follow the lady's advice on shelter, heat, food and basic care. little chicks need clean food,water and a clean pen or brooder to thrive and heat.
