Can 4 rooster live together?

Yea, I'm not to keen on the idea of letting them free range. As matter of fact when we built the outdoor pen we put the hardware cloth a foot down in the ground. And put 3 locks on the door, and even put a rubber mat used for horse stalls in front of the door. Just so things can't dig under the door. Little did I know it is keeping them inside. I didn't realize that they were such little diggers.

I have 3 roos in one of my pens, but they have 9 girls. There is a "favorite" girl who gets a bare back, so I have to put a saddle on her. Other than that they do fine. My frizzle pen also has 2 roos and only 4 girls and they are all fine. It just depends on the temperament of the roos.

well that's encouraging. i really don't want to get rid of any. i guess we'll just wait and see. thanks:ya

Lets see...I have 1 white leghorn roo,4 OEGB roos, 1 bantam SLW roo, 2 D'uccle roos, and 1 blue bantam wyandotte roo that get along out in the same yard together.

you know if you want to free range then but dont have many trees you could always put something out in the middle that they could get under quick if they see any predators, i live in southwest florida and we have almost no trees in our yard so we got an old junk trailer and put it out there and decorated it by putting some flowers that did good in driect sunlight and painting it it doesnt look to bad just like acute little flower garden i put their water thing under there and during the warmest parts of the day they all just hang out under it it seems to work pretty good

I wouldn't worry about the roosters fighting. They will do some of that till they have the 'pecking' order in place.

I would be (much) more worried though about the Rooster to Hen ratio.
I have about 75 hens and 6 roosters at the moment. Mine are about 4 1/2 months old so maybe they will calm down when they get older, but they are constantly trying to mate the poor hens.

I would swear that somehow the roosters know which hens are old enough to lay eggs. They at first were only trying to mate the Red Stars (which began laying several weeks ago). Now that the Black Stars are starting to lay, they are after them too. (But the hens like my RIR's that are NOT laying yet, are not chased/mated by the Roosters!).

On a side note, I always pictured Roosters in the same way as Song birds like cardinals. I figured the male would crow and otherwise try to 'entice' the females. Chickens (and I found out Geese/Ducks) are not like that! They will grab a poor hen completely without warning! I've had a lot of explaining about the 'birds and the bee's' to my kids the last couple of weeks!

Yes mine free range. They don't mate with the already laying leghorn hen and pullet. They are reserved for Kernal only.

Hi there from Chesapeake, VA. I'm new to this site and have tried to post a couple of times. My family and I hatched our own chicks April 1st. We have 18 in total and it looks like we have 6 possibly 8 roosters. These chicks are very friendly and tame but I need to find good homes for at least 4 of them so would welcome any advice or info. Our chickens are our pets so it's going to be very hard parting with our boys.
I also wanted to share some info on nutritional support for those that get a sick chick. I had a chick stop eating and drinking at three weeks so took her to the vet and he gave Lafeber's critical care nutrition which I syringe fed every few hours for a week. This chick is now happy and thriving and back in with the other. I also have a crooked beak that I give Lafeber's nutritional support along with organic peas and spinach baby food, she can eat on her own but doesn't seem to get enough so this really helps. Only catch is that you have to have your vet order it for you.
