Can 4 week old chicks spend the day outside and start weaning onto adult food?

My chicks just hit four weeks old. They almost have all their feathers in and are just adorable! The are outgrowing their coop so I was wondering if during the day they could stay out in it and play? At the moment it DOES NOT have a way for them to get back in the coup if they want to. We are working on the door and then it will be accessible. Do you think they would be okay in the coup during the day? There is shade, food, and water. The temperature has been 65-75. Also, when can they start eating regular chicken food? Can I start mixing it with their chick feed to wean them on to it?
Thanks :)

After chick starter you are supposed to feed chicks grower feed, at 8-18 weeks. I usually start giving my chicks layer feed when the first egg appears, but you can start giving them it at 19-above weeks.:D NEVER feed chicks younger than 18 weeks with layer feed. It contains too much calcium for the little chicks and will damage their kidneys!

I was going to say the same thing!

The good news for those with birds of all ages and sexes? All of them can eat Grower or non-medicated Starter or these products sold as Flock Raiser or All Flock. Same food for everyone!!! Yay!!!

The feed that has a narrow intention is the Layer. If it isn't laying eggs, it doesn't need Layer.

If they are in the coop it should be fine.

I think you are confused. I have the coop, I want to let them out in the run. About 12x6 run that I've fenced off. No access to the coop from the run. (For now, until I build the door)

Oh, I thought you asked if they would be ol in the coop. I think it's fine to let them out in the run, though if any of them appear to be shivering, move them to a warmer location.

What I've been doing with my chicks is I base it on the weather. If it's warm and sunny outside I take them and put them in the chicken tractor for a little bit. I stay out with them and if it starts to get breezy or they act as if they are cold I bring them back inside. I start with about half an hour just so they get the idea of it.
