Can a Black Copper Maran chick have a brown head?

Hi,
Another question please. One of the Black Copper Marans chicks has a reddish brown cast on its head. Not black like the others. Can a BCM have coloring like that?
 
i haven't seen any like that yet. might want to keep an eye as it grows on its coloring might want to keep it as an egg layer for eating but not breed stock.

Your chick might not keep that color on her head. She still has to molt.But she still might keep the color we never know.

Thank you, yes I am betting it is a cross of something. Someone suggested Wheaten. It won't be breeding stock.
 
I had one BCM hatch out with a brown head and brown tips on his down. This is him now:

Yes, sometimes they get a brown coloring on their head and it goes away as the feathers come in. As long as the feather coloring comes in they are absolutely fine for breeding.
