Hi, I have a silkie that recently went broody, and after a few attempts of trying to stop her( taking her nest and eggs away, bringing her outside), decided to let her sit on some eggs. The only eggs my local farm had at the time were duck eggs. They forgot to tell me what breed of ducks, but they egg is a tinted white color. One of my other friends gave me a pekin duck egg to try and hatch as well. My question is, will my silkie be able to hatch the eggs, or will the longer incubation time harm my silkie? Should I try to give her extra protiens such as mealworms and that? This is my first time having a chicken go broody so I don't want to stress her out. Thankyou in advance for any advice.

I'm not sure what kind of ducks you got- but the silkie can hatch them. There's only a week or so difference (unless it's muscovies) os she should be fine.

I give my broodies greens & fruit every day to temp them off the nest for a minute. They're not really interested iun anything but those eggs.
