Can a chicken live a full life if they have a crossed beak?

How does the trimming help? Isn't the beak going to cross whether the beak is trimmed or not?

The trimming helps because it makes it much easier for them to eat, even though the beak is still crossed further back, if it's trimmed it lines up a bit better. Depending on how crossed the beak is if it continues to grow eventually the top will cross so far over the bottom of the beak it can make it really hard for them to eat anything. I also feed mine crumbles instead of pellets and he seems to do well with it.

My vet trimmed my chicken's crossed beak with a dremmel tool. Eventually I bought one (a dremmel tool) and he showed me how to do it myself. My hen's beak was severly crossed and I ended up tube feeding her. She was also blind in one eye. But she was a happy and much loved little bird.

I have one also that is about 2 years old and doing just great.
I do trim her beak every once in awhile and feed her crumbles and water in a deep dish.
I keep an eye on how she feeds and also feel her crop regularly.
She's a tough little girl and holds her own with the others.
