i was reading a thread about hatching mandarin duck eggs, and i would like to get some eggs but the people in the thread said that they get low hatch rates if you put the eggs in the incubator, they said to let the momma set on them till they go in lock down, but i was wondering if a broody hen would incubate them just as good as the momma duck.

I would think so. I've had chickens incubate duck eggs before.
I don't know for sure if Mandarin Duck eggs would be different.

Yes, but the hen shouldn't be too large or you risk breakage of expensive eggs. A bantam Cochin or Silkie would be perfect.

It would also help to have a proven broody, a hen that has been reliable in hatching eggs before.
ok thanks for the help now i know not to put a Barbara on mandarin duck eggs :lau
