I have no idea but someone else can prob help you. I hope you prevent it whatever it is.

I don't think chicken's beaks would rot. It's a living part of the chicken. I'm not sure what to do, but someone here should do. If it was broken off, then it may have begun to rot.

I've got one that had a cracked and chipped beak. I filed it so it wouldn't be so snaggly and get stuck on things and make it worse. It's been a while, and you can hardly tell anything happened. If it was me, I would try and get it as close to proper position as possible. As far as I know, it should grow back so long as it wasn't broken completely off (like they do to some commercial chickens)

How well is she eating?

I agree, a picture would be helpful.

I have one with a split, and broken beak, but she eats fine and drinks fine so I have always left it alone. I dont think they get rotten but I am no expert!

It sounds like maybe she injured her beak. Like if you smash your finger and injure the nail bed, the nail will evevtually fall off. Do a search under injurred beak. Hope everything works out.

Can you post a picture? I am sure if the injury had caused inadequate blood supply to the area, it can die and rot off as well as an infection.
