Can a egg go without heat for a day?

So I made a temporary brooder and the chick is wanting to get out ,I put it in the pocket in my jacket and it just goes to sleep. And when I put it back, it just looks at me and chirps till I put it back in my jacket. Is this normal?

Babies sleep a lot, mine started to fall asleep in my hand right away at that age. As long as it knows where the food and water is, don't worry if it doesn't eat a lot right now- it probably still has some of its own yolk left. You can just dip the tip of its beak in the water and it'll figure that out. Make sure the water dish is shallow or fill it with pebbles so there's no chance of drowning.
As for the chirping, you're it's mum, it doesn't want to be away from you. If you have them, a mirror or a stuffed toy will help it feel less alone when you're not there.

The chick hatched yesterday and he is running all around the house,it ate a few bugs today.Should i let it run around in soil so it can find it's own grit.I know the chick is supposed to be in the brooder but it won't stop chirping till i take him out and let him run around and how do you identify silikie gender?

Yeah if it's catching bugs definitely take it out for a bit at a time to scratch in the dirt. Good chicken!
Silkies are very hard to sex, it might be months before you can be sure.

I've recently started incubating a batch of eggs and most of the eggs started forming embryos (today is day 3). I might be travelling in a week, the journey will be almost an entire day and I have to take them with me.I saw a video where people incubate eggs by keeping them in rice, that's why I thought of storing them in rice.I wanted to get a second opinion if it's okay keeping them out of incubation and if there is a better option then rice.

When we went on a 26 hour long road trip from north Idaho to Santa Rosa, CA, a friend let us borrow a really nifty gadget so I could write or watch dvds on my laptop on the way down. It's basically a regular outlet, but it has a jack on the other end that plugs into a cigarette lighter (or car power jack).

They're not horribly expensive, you can prob find it on Amazon or in Walmart or other electronic store near you, and that way you can plug the incubator in using the car as a power source and not have to worry about it :thumbsup
