Can a goose be happy with an aggressive gander?

Back in April i decided that my sweetheart pet goose Peggy was lonely and needed a companion thanks to the help of some people on this site. I ended up getting a young gander named Reggie along with two little ducks and they have their own area with a pond. Things were fine until around August when Reggie was matured. Hes now incredibly defensive and confrontational when anyone (including me) enters the goose yard. Ive gotten Reggie under control to where he doesn't bite or attack me anymore, but im unsure if Peggy is happy. Shes now very shy and quiet and often has dirty roughed up spots in her feathers. Im unsure if she enjoys living with him and just acts like that to accommodate the noisy gander, or if she is sad. The whole reason i got him was to make her happy but im afraid to even think of removing him in case they are happily bonded, can anyone clear this up for me?

If she keeps him company and doesn't try to escape him, she's most likely happily bonded with him. Geese don't know how to act. Are you sure the roughed up feathers are not from the ducks? My friend's runner ducks used to chase my goose - the female to chase her away; the drake wanted to mate with her. My goose was scared of them, and if I hadn't been there, she would've had roughed up feathers for sure.
