Can a Guinea Fowl Mate With a Chicken?

Okay, so a few days ago I adopted a guinea fowl roo.
Then I started to wonder...can a guinea fowl mate with a chicken?
I did see a few threads that hinted towards hybrids. I'm kind of worried because I don't want to crack open an egg and find a dead chick.

Am I totally misinformed here? Has anyone ever had this happen to them?

The only way you could ever open up an egg and find a chick is if you don't collect your eggs regularly, have a broody, and let her incubate the egg for a few days. If you don't do all three of those you have nothing to worry about. Whether they can mate or not.
