Can a hen keep herself from getting her eggs fertilized?

I have a silver hen that is 2 yrs old and has had chicks and is proven. I have two cockerels 7 months old and 8 months old. The younger one was with this hen and I had clear eggs. Therefore, I used my older rooster who has fertilized eggs with two different hens on my silver hen. However, I started getting clear eggs from him as well. I saw them try to mount her and seems successful, however, I am disappointed with clear eggs. She does it mate willingly though. Can the hen actually keep from getting her eggs fertilized?

Yep, some hens won't let a rooster mate especially young roosters. Try trimming around both rooster and hen vent. So if the roo does get lucky more chance of success. Also how old is the older rooster. Rooster fertility goes down as they get older.

6 months is young. She probably thinks he is not mature enough. Also he is just figuring things out so may not be making proper connection. It took my rooster a few months to figure it out correctly.

If he was 6 years old than fertility is almost non existent at roosters that age. My 4 year old rooster is mostly used to keep the young ones in line.

Yes, chickens have a built in birth control mechanism, after mating they can either accept the sperm or reject/eject the sperm, as they choose... Meaning that even if the rooster is successful in mating the hen can prevent the sperm from actually entering her and fertilizing her if she doesn't like the rooster...
