I'm not sure, I do know they practice on the hens. I have a 7 week old roo that jumped on a 7 week old hen yesterday. We laughed at him. He had no idea what to do after he jumped on her!

He PROBABLY won't be fertile until after he crows. They generally crow long before they are able to service hens.

And, just for grins & giggles, some hens won't let some (or any) roosters service them.

I honestly have no clue how chickens mate...??? Obviously you need a rooster and a hen... But never really wondered about the age of sexual maturity for chickens, lol...

I guess it's possible, but he won't be fertile. He will just be "practicing". Mine start crowing and breeding at the same time
