I have 2 females and 1 drake Muscovy. This guy can barely waddle he is so big. Today I saw him basically fall into the black rubber tub that I water them in (he was trying to make the move on my pekin girl)

He either can't figure out what he is supposed to do or he is too fat to do it. I adore this guy but I don't know if he needs to go on a restricted diet or if his size is normal.

Do drakes move ultra slow? Do they need water to breed? The girls just hop into the tub but he can hardly even roll himself into it...

Looking at him I don't think he is abnormaly huge but he is so slowwwwwwwwww

Mine have food in front of them 24/7 and aren't too fat. they also take care of bussiness just fine too. they do seem to move a bit slower than the girls though. you should see the Mammoth Muscovies from Austrailia, those are GINORMOUS!! and apparently still manage to breed, lol.

My Muscovy drakes were huge but they never let that stop them from trying to mate. Mine weren't fond of the pool for mating. I finally took pity on the poor ducks and set bales in the yard close enough together so they could squeeze in and hide because the males were too broad to fit. Then they started to chase the geese! A few match ups with a goose and gander team taught them not to try while the ganders were around.

OK then LOL I guess he is normal! I have been feeling bad for the big guy because he tries so hard! Maybe the deed is getting done when I am not around.

Ginormous.... I like that! Mine has a mohawk too, anyone else? I am new to Muscovys but loving it! I managed to hatch out 12 little babies and should have a nice flock if I can keep the coyotes away from them
