Can a Polish actually see?

I trim my Polish hen's feathers, too. My roo can see for now. I used to startle her all the time. I'd walk in front of her and she'd jump and peck at me. The first time I gave her a trim it opened up a whole new world to her! That reminds me, she needs another haircut.

I have a White Crested Black Polish roo and hen and also a Gold Laced roo.

Here's a recent picture of my crested roo... I don't have a good pic of the Gold Laced on my cell phone to put up, but he's even more handsome than the WC roo!

A lot of birds are kept in cages especially breeder birds and I suppose that they just need to memorize where their food and water is.

I trimmed my polish hen's hair before I lost her, and yes, no question she could actually see where she was walking to. She had way more confidence in her steps.

Skya328, so THAT's what their faces look like? Nice! The only time I ever seen my boy's eyes are when he's on my lap and I lift up the mop of feathers. He's not fond of that. You made yours look like it grew that way naturally.

Trunkman - funny!

Actually, I that is how his grows! I haven't had to trim either of my roos yet. I was going to trim Lola's feathers (my hen) last night and forgot. So this morning I got a couple of rubber bands and put her hair up. Does anybody remember the show Fraggle Rock? Well, she looks like a fraggle now with two big "pigtails." Poor thing wasn't happy about it but forgot when she could actually SEE the bread I threw out there for her!
