Can a roo lose his voice?

Ahaha so recently I was spending time with the flock, and of course, my roo decided to start crowing. (He probably wanted me to get lost. )
And then all of a sudden, I hear this horribly, off-key crow. And it kept happening.
Y'all I think my rooster lost his voice!
After a few days of that earsplitting cacophony, his crowing turned all majestic and musical again.
Seriously though, has this happened to anyone else?

Roosters can go hoarse. Generally it's because they have a slight respiratory infection I believe.

yes it can happen due to a chook version of a cold
