Can a Rottweiler ever be trusted with goats and chickens

Yeah...I knew it was old, but instead of starting a new post, basically about the same topic, I took my chances. ☺️
My niece raised pits, but they would tear through chicken wire if the wanted...they weren't good for protecting chickens. And I've heard from several people at church with GPs that they aren't pets if they need to protect other animals. They are either pets for their people or protectors for other critters. So I'm confused about them.

Can Anatolian Shepherd s be both?
So you want a dog that can protect but be inside?
Most LGD live outside and stay close to their animals.
I do know a great pry who protects chickens. But takes breaks to play with their kids. He lives outside and they take him to farmers markets.

I hope someone else will say something as i dont have a lgd but i have done a lot of research

No...not inside, but a pet, and protector. Like I mentioned, ppl tell me that if you have a dog (GP, especially) to protect the flock and all, they can't also be pets. I would want both.

If its outside guarding and you want it to come follow you, pet it, play, or train it. Then i dont see why it wouldnt be a good pet and protector.

I do hope someone with LGD experience jumps in if im wrong.

I have a pyr, she's an inside dog and purely a pet but I know some pyrs that are LGDs and they are wonderful. They know their job and it does come first but when the animals are safe they will spend hours hanging out with us and come up to our property fir pets and sit by campfires with us. As soon as a predator or another dog comes they leave and chase them off though. It's pyr instinct too, my own which is a pet will leave food, toys, treats, attention or anything to bark off and "protect" us from what she thinks is a threat.
