Can a teenage chicken raise a baby chick?

Thank you! I will raise the chicken myself of course , but as for company and warming ( I have a heat lamp ) i was wondering if she would be good?

Brooder Heat Plates are recommended and a clean feather duster to duck under,would help a lot!

Right now the chick is following kitty around. Kitty has never pecked or done anything harmful to anyone. She is very well behaved and I take her everywhere. I will gladly supervise them at all times , but so far nothing has happened and they are acting as mother and daughter. Kitty has just pecked at some food for Guts and they have eaten it.

Yes! We had 2 day old chicks and a 13 week old chick decidede to take care of them haha she would put her wings up and the chicks would each go under one! We never needed a heat lamp for them

Silly question...how does a jersey giant not crush a little silkie? Also I would let you tween mother the chick during the day while under supervision and if all goes well keep them together. Or maybe get some little siblings for the baby chick? I have heard some stories of special needs girls being very good at taking care of little ones and also keeping rehabers company.

I have no idea! They seemed to mate fine enough for the first two , but he keeps mating with one silkie that is now naked due to his plucking , I believe she is infertile. And that is a good idea! I will certainly consider buying some more baby silkies ( I was already thinking about it because we have some eggs not everyone can sit on all the way without another hen to help ).

Right now kitty just fell asleep with the baby! So cute! ( The flash woke her up , haha. )
