Can a temperature gun work

I was wondering if a temperature gun can be used to check egg s inside an incubator. I have a still air incubator and cannot find the thermometer I had. If a temperature gun would work, what temperature would I want it at? The same as a dry bulb?

I don't know myself, but the question is interesting enough I'm going to bump it in the hopes that someone who does know will see it.
