Can a yearling Peahen start laying eggs?

Today I got a huge light colored egg. Huge in comparison to the average chicken egg. Pinkish tan and pretty good sized. I have my peas in with some chickens and I do have Ameracaunas in there, but none lay non blue eggs that I know of.
Do yearling peahens start laying that young? Or did one of my Ameracaunas lay it but somehow hid any others? I do let them out of the runs to free range during the day sometimes...

I usually have 1 out of 6 yearling peahens lay eggs but usually only 1 clutch.

Some will, I've had it happen before as a matter of fact this year 2 of my yearling midnight BS girls laid and one of them is currently incubating.

Maybe it is her laying those big eggs then.
She has only laid 2 if it is her. I picked them both up right away, so no clutch or incubating. My male is also a yearling and he is only displaying. I haven't seen them mate. Although she is doing the hen submissive pose to me now and she never used to.

One other question... has anyone tried eating a pea egg? I wasn't sure if it was a hen or the peahen and told my husband about the mystery egg and he wanted to eat it anyway. So he had it sunny side up and said it was great, just like a chicken egg. So maybe it is? or has anyone tried eating a pea egg and are they like chicken eggs?

Yup they are 100% edible most people just don't eat them because they're alot more valuable than chicken eggs

They are delicious, even according to my son who has won countless awards for being the pickiest eater anyone in the world ever met! LOL!

Haha! Thank you for your replies! I am still not sure if it is her or not, but I do think it is. I "guess" her eggs aren't valuable yet, since she doesn't like her boyfriend yet! So my husband will keep eating any big mystery eggs we find.

Next time you get one and decide to open it up, post a close up of the yolk and we can help you decide if its fertile. Ive heard of yearling hens laying never had one do it yet. Ive also heard of yearling roosters mating but, am doubtful of the fertility rate in a yearling male. Anything is possible with mother nature,
