One of my female black sweedish has developed what looks like angelwing. She is currently molting, and I was out of feed for two days about 2 weeks ago. Everyone is currently on 16% layer pellets with 2-3 hours of free range daily. The ducks stay out after dark and sometimes stay out for 8-9 hours depending on when I go out to lock them up.

I don't have any photos yet, but I'll try to get a few in the morning. If it is angelwing, what do I need to do? Walk me through it step by step, lol.

Thanks,
Emily

PS - She is the only duck out of about 60 that looks like this!

Hi Emily!

I have no idea about the answer to your question, but I wanted to say hello. I recognize you from your username--this is Heather Head, in Charlotte. You hatched some Indian Runners out of eggs from my flock this summer. Hello!!!!

They aren't supposed to develop angel wing once they are adults but with ducks anything is possible! Are you sure it isn't droopy or dropped wing, where the duck just lets its wings droop because of the weight? A lot of ducks will do this at molt where the new 'blood feathers' are so much heavier than the regular dried off feathers.

The tips are definatly pointing up. I just want her to be healthy and be able to get around and keep up with the other ducks. I already have a duck that only uses one leg, I don't need any more special needs critters, lol.
