Can an EE's lay brown eggs?

Every few days I am getting an extra brown egg.
Is the EE or Ameraucanas laying brown instead of green, or is one of the reds laying an extra egg?

Yep, EEs can lay brown eggs.
I found that out AFTER I bought my EEs for colored eggs. I'm just hoping I get colored ones when they start to lay.

Yes.

A chicken can every now and then lay 2 eggs in one day, but not on a regular ongoing basis. And it is pretty rare. So chances are you have a brown-egg EE.

Hope that's not too disappointing a possibility

I'm kind of confused, here is why:

My EE was the first to lay and her eggs were always green, could she have changed? I can't say that I have actually seen one of her green eggs in a week or so. (Her eggs have always been a certain color and shape, distinct from the others)

Can one of my Ameraucanas be laying the brown one?

I doubt she changed. If she is anything like my EE, the eggs are so big that sometimes she won't lay for a few days. I also have another EE that lays a very light brown egg with a linkish tint. Very rpetty.

I wondered the same thing and posted a question about that in a previous thread.

My EE'r has been the first to lay...about 5 of 7 days...I got a cream/light brown one day and wondered if she could lay that or if a Bramha roo could have caused a shell color change.

However, the next day I came home to 3 eggs (one tinted). So, I think I am satisfied that E-squared isn't laying any brownies. Now I need to figure out who is laying the others. I suspect it's my Sussex...or it could be my Salmon Favorelles....or it could be my Bramhas.

I have an Ameraucana that only lays light creamy slightly pink eggs! Part of the reason we got her was because of the green blue coloured eggs, and the hardiness... She is a special needs Girl(bum leg since hatch), and lays them anywhere she happens to be at the time! Will she start to lay green/blue eggs in time? They have always been quite large, even her first ones... In the end we are just happy that she is healthy and happy, and accepted by the rest of the flock!

One of my americauns is doing the same. Tan to light brown with a pinkish hue. Looks great when placed in a bowl with all the other colors. Think of it as celebrating diversity!

I got two Easter Eggers this past spring. One lays green eggs, the other lays light brown eggs.
