You can saw it in half. Works great except the stuffing part. ; )

I second all of this! They do eat a lot, but they are so much fun to raise! I cry every year when the last ones go.... As far as hardiness - 2 of our Broad Breasted Bronze got on top of our chicken coop (9+ feet high) every night if we didn't get them inside first. We've not had problems with our meat turkeys getting around - and one of our toms was 31 pounds DRESSED at 16 or 17 weeks.
I am wondering how I'll react. This is a first for me. I raised cornish cross in the spring and had NO problem sending those stinky birds. Although I talked to them and pet them everyday, they were only here for 8 weeks. The turkey's I've had since July. And like I said CHARACTER! They kill me.

Mine are in a hoop coop at night, free range during the day. I herd them like sheep back into the coop at night. I put some 2x4's across the back for them to roost...they will NOT roost. Its going to get very cold soon and I would like to get them off the ground...any ideas? They have NO PROBLEM jumping up and roosting on my lawn furniture....What if they never roost...is that going to be an issue when the ground starts freezing? I'm afraid of losing toes like chickens when the ground freezes....
