Can anyone age my Pekins and tell me the colour?

  • PM nicalandia and ask him to look at these birds and there color, I believe that the Rooster is Chocolate and the hens may be split for Chocolate.
yes, he looks like a leaky chocolate, whats a leaky chocolate? well a chocolate bird that is missing all of the need it melanizers to turned him completely Black(then turn into chocolate by the recessive sex linked choc gene)

this is what a leaky dominant Black looks like without choc(could also be heterozygous for extended black, could be E/eb)

this is what a leaky chocolate roo looks like

The hens Cant be Split for choc as they can only be Hemizygous for it(can only have one copy of it) I think the females are blue

the good and cool news is that if you cross this male to those females(which you will be doing anyways) you will hatching the First ever Mauve Pekins pullets....

but whats the color Mauve? well its blue and chocolate on the same bird, if you cross your choc rooster to the blue hens, the pullets of this cross will be sexlinked, the males will be either black or blue, but the pullets will be chocolate or Mauve which is just chocolate and blue together...

here how they look

bantam orps from the UK. the mauve is ont he center and the blue is on the right

another Mauve pullet..
