can anyone answer this?

I have two hens I have had for about 3 years I decided to get baby chicks this year well here is the question why did my two hens react differently to the babies one went straight after them try to hurt them the other one has not so much as pecked at them the one that went after them is an Easter Egger and not sure what the other one is I raised the EE the other I got from Amish family

How old are the chicks? When introducing them into the older bigger chickens you want to make sure they are almost the same size. Even when they are the right age and size it is normal for some aggression to take place, this has to happen to establish the new pecking order. If the pecking gets bad enough to draw blood, put the chicks in a separate area where they can the adults and get used to them, but not injured. Hope this helps!

sorry new to BYC not sure how to do this yet they are no where near the same size as the adults I have the aggressive one in a separate pen inside the main pen where she can see and get used to the little ones my other adult has been in same pen with little ones for over a week not sure how old they are but I have had the for about a month got them from rural king they were tiny little things I haven't had any problems at all with the adult hen in with the babies this is not a good pic but u can see size difference between the two

Definitely keep them separated for at least 2-3 weeks. I usually introduce them separated until every chick has feathers, no fluff. Younger than that the adults can seriously harm the babies without trying to.
