Here you say IBs lay the light brown.I ended up with 2 out of my 4 being ladies, so I purchased 2 more pullets who started laying before my original 2. They are Isa Browns and lay the light brown eggs.
Here you say IBs lay the darkest eggs.I should've explained that the 2 darkest ones are the colours that have been laid all along from the Isa's
Marens don't lay pale eggs. The second light one has come since I seen the marans in the boxes.
Chickens make a lot of noise for many reasons one of which is egg laying but not the only reason. I've even had mine raise their voice because their flockmate was laying an egg. I have a SLW. She is noisy and lays large medium to dark brown eggs. Seeing a chicken in the nest is a signal that they are thinking about laying an egg but not a guarantee. My BOs are often found sitting in the nest so I leave them to their buisness only to find no egg that day. You were finding darker eggs after the IBs arrived. They are different shades of dark brown, 2 different breeds laid these. Marens lay very dark eggs. SLW lay medium-dark brown eggs. Later you find 2 pale brown eggs, one is small signaling a possibly new layer. You have 2 new chickens of the same breed and would be laying similar colored eggs. New layers can lay any size egg but color is pretty much a given. Shades of brown can lessen at the end of a laying season but that's not what is happening here, these are just starting.
I think your original 2, SLW and Marens, started laying after the IBs arrived giving you 2 shades of dark eggs, and your IBs have started now.
As for you finding white eggs.....

Btw those are some really pretty girls! I love the look of Wyandottes. I also have a Black Copper Marans, might have to get me one of those Cuckoo Marans, yours is so pretty!
