Can anyone help me find some chickens?

Hey all,
I'm in Vancouver area and looking for a couple eggs to hatch. I think I want Barred Rocks but I'm also torn with other breeds. I like the black and white on the barreds but I really don't know. I adopted a few orpington eggs today, so they will have to be good with them and hatching would be about the same time.
Any advice on which breed would be great with kids, dogs, and good layers?

silkies are a great breed, but are really hard to find. id suggest maybe a cochin
