Hello, I found a baby Chick I named Chicken Little yesterday. At first he was in the road, and we had tried to catch him/her but was outran. Who knew baby chicks could run So fast? Not I says me. But we were at least able to get it/him/her out of the road. Early this morning Chicken Little was found and caught at the end of the driveway. The poor baby was pretty cold. Got baby wrapped up in a shirt and then watched over for the rest of the night/morning. Chicken Little is eating and drinking really good. But is missing the Peach fuzzy feather hair on top of. is gone. Has a Kinda fuzzy looking thing growing on 1 eye and a brownish Crusty looking Scab on one side of the beak. Can anyone please Help me find out what's wrong with chicken Little

First of all looks young and not fully feathered- how warm is the area you're keeping it in? Are you providing any sort of heat source? What are you feeding it so far? Scrambling some eggs can provide a good boost for a sickly chick. Could you get or do you have on hand PoultryCell, Sav-A-Chick, HydroHen, or similar chicken electrolyte water supplement? I don't know specifically what's wrong with it but proper feeding, heating, and electrolyte supplementation can go a long way.

Welcome to BYC. Do you have a heat source? You can make a cave using a heating pad on the low setting. (don't use one with auto shut off) the baby needs to be able to get in and out of the cave as needed.
You will need an All flock or chick feed and some chick grit. Chick electrolytes can be found at Tractor supply or feed stores. Don't use them exclusively. Give fresh water too.
Check the babies butt to make sure there isn't poop on it. If there is you'll need to clean it gently with warm water and oil of some sort (baby oil, coconut oil..) dry it well afterward and leave some oil so that it is easier to keep clean.
Good luck with Chicken Little, and please keep us informed.

Oh, and if possible, get Chicken Little two or three friends. She is probably lonely. If you can't, give her a mirror or let her watch a YouTube video with a mama hen and chicks.

I live in florida So its plenty hot and warm. I've got him inside of a bird cage rn, with a t-shirt to Snuggle with. I check on him constantly to make sure he's eating, drinking, has food and water. rn he's eating a little tiny bit of an oatmeal Creme pie (please no harsh judgement it's literally all I had. I'm actually about to go to the Store to get stuff to make him some food.) No I don't have any poultrycell, Sav-a-chick, hydrohen or anything besides tap water. I don't get paid until between the 25th-1st. But I don't want anything bad to happen to Chicken Little which is why I am asking for help. I'm wondering should I drop him off where I know there is a bunch of hood chickens at, This elderly couple feeds, but I'm worried the roosters will hurt him. These hood Chickens and roosters are ruthless.

A chick that age will absolutely not survive without a broody who specifically recognizes him as her chick or a human caretaker. If inside temperatures are not around 80 naturally, it's probably not warm enough for it. If you have eggs in the house, scramble an egg for it as a temporary measure. If you know somebody who has the means to care for this little one, maybe reach out but it will need individualized care and to be kept inside if it is to live.

Welcome to BYC.

Have you opened up the chicks mouth to see if there are any similar crusty buildups in there?
What are you feeding it?
I agree with the others to offer some chick electrolytes in the water and get a small bag of a good quality chick starter crumble. Feed plain scrambled eggs in the meantime.
As long as the temperature is about 70F - 85F, that should be warm enough. I would make a huddle box vs wrapping the chick like that. It is harder for it to control its body temp if wrapped.
If the chick pulls through, THEN get it some friends of a similar age.
Good luck.
