Can anyone solve a chicken BALD CHICKEN BUTT PROBLEM?

Now that sounds like a real possibility. I am not familiar with a "bumpa bit" however. I will do a bit of research and check them out. I do know all my chickens roost together and it is the LOWEST in the pecking order that is FINE. Time to put up a camera!!!! Just though of that. It seems rather voyoristic but I just might take my husband's outdoor camera and try and point it at the roost and see what the heck is going on at night out there! You folks are the best! All input is welcomed still.

Increasing protein helps some people, but didn't do a thing for mine. I found out who it was because I had noticed blood spots in the coop and went out after dark to go over all the birds. I saw "Thing 2" drinking blood drops from a broken pin feather on another hen's backside.

I ordered the bumpa bit to try, and it worked really well. Doesn't prevent picking at things, just makes it harder to get a good grip. Trick is to get the right size, like the one in this picture (Not my bird)

Some people have had decent luck with pinless peepers, too.

I think that the bottom ranking chicken is often smart enough to stay away from the perpetrators. Or maybe they just know how to get back at everyone!

Good luck.
