I believe this chick is about 5 weeks old. Is it possible to tell if it is a cockerel or pullet?

Thanks so much. This chick seems to corral the chicks and lead them around. It also seems to be more hypervigilant and watches surroundings more than the other chicks. We can only keep one rooster so we need to find out as soon as possible because the kids are getting attached to them all. :)

We were told all the chicks we picked up were mixed breed bantams so we really don't know. He definitely has a larger comb than the others, it is starting to turn red and I did notice the red wattles under his chin. We were thinking roo, but we are beginners here. We have another one that we think might be a cockerel also. Not sure if the pictures are good enough, though to tell.

I'm thinking it's a hen.

Happy that nothing on the second chick is screaming cockerel. I am so hoping that we only have one rooster and three hens. I'll have to post pics of the others soon. thanks so much!

i'm thinking 2 cockerls...has that white one always looked like that? it looks a bit droopy in those pics and might be a little sick with its eyes either almost closed or fully closed in all of your pics, so i would watch him closely

I have been watching him closely because we lost a chick on Monday to Cocci. I have even followed him around to see his stool and it looks clear. I am on day four of treating the whole flock with Sulmet. He does seem to close his eyes a lot, but then he flutters around bossing the others round and scratching and eating bugs. He does seem to go to sleep when his is still for very long so I am watching him Thanks..
