Can anyone tell me about how many eggs a Speckled Sussex will lay before she sets?

I have a Speckled Sussex, Lucy, that hasn't wanted us to get her eggs so we are going to let her keep them. She has 8 now, yes they are fertile, and I'm wondering if she is ever going to set. She has lain almost an egg a day so far. How many eggs could she possibly want or have before she decides its time to set?

Another question:
She has a friend, Midnight, in the coop with her and she seems to not mind because Midnight lets her be the boss and is just a pullet. Should I leave Lucy alone without a friend to encourage her to set?

Typically most hens including Speckled Sussux will lay somewhere between 10 and 15 eggs before setting. As for Midnight, as long as she isn't creating problems for Lucy you can leave her in the coop with Lucy. Good luck with your brood.
