Can anyone tell me the breed/

This isn't the best photo, plus it was taken a few weeks ago so his markings are coming through a lot more now but could anyone tell me what breed he looks like? He's black and white (just dirty in the pic

could be anything from a mixed breed mutt to a pure bred. Without knowing the parents noone can tell you for sure since many mixed bred ducklings can "appear" like a specific breed.

Sorry forgot to mention he is a mallard cross but seems to be taking after his mum (who was black and white)
the female we have has taken after the mallard side.
I'm in the uk if that helps any?

all domestics are mallard derived (minus pekin and of course muscovy), so you have mixed breed duckling who is cute.
