Can anyone tell me what breed my Ms. Smurf is? I was told she is a Maran, but I cannot find anything like her in all the pages I have looked.
She is smokey gray, four toes, full boots, black eyes and red ear skin.
Thank you!

A cochin, perhaps? The picture is a little small. Is it a bantam?

She is pretty large actually. Really long legs runs more like an emu than a chicken.

she isnt poofy enough to be a cochin. Her leg feathering is a little heavy for Marans.
Where did she come from?
She looks like a Blue Marans to me, only other thing I can think of is a Langstan, but those arent common, and I think the Blue is rare, usually they are black or white.

I got her from a breeder near me. I was told she is a blue maran. But like you said all the photos do not have the heavy boots. I have a cuckoo maran also. As well as other breeds, but the more I try to find on her the more confused I get! She has the coloring of a bluebell, but not the feet.

I would contant the breeder, maybe send a picture if you can. How old was she when you got her? The breeder may have chosen not to breed her because of the large boots. Or its possible its a cross, and the breeder didnt know.

They are all just at laying age. 7-8 mos She hasn't started laying yet, but does hunker down when you go to pick her up. I read in many places that the original marans had feathered feet because of the asiatic mix but that it has been bred out of them.
